Our family has been in Brazil as missionaries since 1990.  We originally came to Brazil under the Apostolic Christian Church Missionary Committee.  In the fall of 2008, God led us to begin Hope Ministries, under Fields of Harvest Church in Texas.   The Apostolic Christian Church Missionary Committee gave us their full support and blessing for this change.

In March of 2009, we started our first Hope Ministries Church here in Castanhal (city of 200,000).  Among the families that are coming to church, there are more than ten families where someone (usually the father) has been involved in alcohol, drugs, and/or gangs (robbery) and has now given his life to the Lord.  Much of our time is spent in counseling and ministering to these new Christians and their families. 

We are also starting a Bible School curriculum for these new believers to help them grow in the Lord and be trained as pastors, evangelists and missionaries. Three of our daughters are doing college training for health ministry to the communities on the Amazon River tributaries where we are planting churches.  One of our daughters is studying psychology with extra training in the area of child abuse and dysfunctional families.  In the future we plan to open a foster home for abandoned or abused children.
